Practice Philosophy
At Sanctuary Dental we believe that the body must be treated as a whole. It is a holistic approach.
We believe that it is necessary to treat infection and inflammation in the mouth, because this has a direct effect on the rest of your body.
We aim to restore the function of your dental system so that you are able to chew your food well, because digestion starts in the mouth! You need to absorb the nutrients and vitamins from your food for your body to fuction well.
We are mercury amalgam free and we consider the biocompatibility of all the materials we use.
We are able to help you with the way you present yourself to the world….your smile! Whether it is by straightening crowded teeth (without removing teeth!) or whitening discoloured teeth, you will be surprised with the solutions we can offer you!

Dr Vannoort graduated from Otago University in 1988. She practiced at Auckland Hospital and as a tutor at Otago School of Dentistry, before spending the next 15 years developing Whitford Dental. She has always had a love for helping people restore their teeth, so that they are healthier, they can eat and chew anything they want and need to, and they can smile and present themselves to the world in a confident way. She has formed a team of motivated people to work in this first class faciltity to provide you with the best…Sanctuary Dental.

Dr Abraham Thavamani BDS PG Cert.PH
Abraham graduated from Tamil Nadu Medical University in 2004. His vision for an overseas experience brought him to New Zealand in 2004. He was captivated by the serenity and beauty of the country and decided to make it his home. He has proudly become a New Zealand citizen and has recently married to beautiful Ane.
In 2005, Abraham gained a Post Graduated Certificate in Public Health through the University of Auckland. Following this he underwent the NZDREX gaining registration with the Dental Council of New Zealand.
Dentistry is my passion and I want to give my patients the best of what I promise. I enjoy using the dental laser because it is less invasive and more comfortable to my patients. The digital cameras and the laser diagnostic tools help me explain to my patients all the options available to them so that they can make an informed decision. I am blessed to work with all these technologies at my disposal.”
