Dr Alan Papert is an Alumnus of the Eastman Dental Hospital, England. He has over 20 years experience in Orthodontics.  In 1976 he qualified as a general Dentist with distinction in South Africa. After completion he worked as a general dentist until 1982, at which stage Alan studied Orthodontics at the Eastman Dental Hospital achieving both the Masters and Royal College diploma in Orthodontics in 1984.

Alan’s master’s thesis was’ the extraction of teeth and changes in the soft tissue profile’ and as such developed a strong non extraction philosophy.  Since then he has been in specialist practice in New Zealand, the UK and Australia.

Alan has vast experience in the use of self ligating braces and understands the benefits of these systems which provide low friction with improved comfort and better hygiene for patients.

Alan is accredited in the use of Clearstep invisible braces for patients who want straight teeth but don’t want to wear conventional appliances. Being accredited by Somnomed allows Alan to provide snoring appliances for suitable patients.

Alan has lectured in both the UK and South Africa on many aspects of Orthodontics and was a member of the committee of the British Association of Orthodontics for some years.
