Dentist profiles
Dr Bruce Wilson BSc, BDS
Bruce has practiced dentistry in Palmerston North for over 20 years. In 1995 he established the present practice in a new purpose-built facility. Because of his extensive experience and commitment to ongoing professional education, Bruce can offer a wide range of treatments. In fact, we rarely have to refer clients out of the practice. Bruce’s particular interests include orthodontics, implants, laser treatments and cosmetic procedures.
In 2006 Bruce achieved a first for a New Zealand dentist when he was awarded membership to the International Board of Orthodontics (based in the USA). He is also a qualified Senior Instructor with the International Association of Orthodontics and a member of the NZ Dental Association, the NZ Dentists’ Orthodontic Society, the NZ Institute of Minimal Intervention Dentistry and the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation.
Dr Susannah Wilson BDS (Hons) (Sydney)
Susannah studied Dentistry at the University of Sydney. Upon graduating with honours in 2004, she returned to Palmerston North, with her Australian husband in tow.
Susannah has settled in to her professional role in this family practice, which she’s been involved in as long as she can remember. She enjoys combining the busy clinical aspect of the job with the behind-the-scenes management, and she especially appreciates the team’s ability to transform people’s lives on a daily basis.
Susannah believes in providing comprehensive examination and treatment planning, opening people’s eyes to the possibilities that are now available. She has been keen to introduce the new generation of caries (decay) prevention and minimal intervention programmes. She is a member of the NZ Dental Association (secretary of the Central Districts branch for 2008-2010), NZ Dentists’ Orthodontic Society and the NZ Institute of Minimal Intervention Dentistry.
Dr Graham Hughes BDS(Brist) DPDS(Brist)
Graham qualified from Bristol University (UK) in 1988. He has continued his professional development becoming a Clinical Audit Facilitator in 1996, and completing a Post-graduate Diploma in Dental Studies in 2001.
Dentally, Graham has a preventive ethos (one of the reasons he was attracted to the MDG), empowering clients to reduce their dental disease. With 20+ years of dental experience, he aims to provide gentle restorative care, and has an interest in root canal treatment.
Previously Graham has enjoyed the outdoor life, rock climbing, sub-aqua diving and caving to name a few. Currently he is more likely to be found in one of Palmy’s parks with his three young children.
Dr Lynn Garrick (BDS Otago)
When Lynn began practicing dentistry in 1985, she was only the second female dentist in Palmerston North. She soon joined a group practice in Terrace End where she practiced for many years before taking time off to have three children. She joined Manawatu Dental Group in 2008.
Lynn enjoys educating and empowering clients about their oral health. She works hard to make dentistry as pain-free as possible. Lynn enjoys providing quality modern dentistry to her clients, so she appreciates working in the well-staffed and well-managed environment at MDG. She also believes in ongoing professional development and often travels to attend dental education courses.
Lynn grew up in Foxton, where she enjoyed surf lifesaving. She was involved in Playcentre for many years when here children were young. More recently, Lynn has trained as a singer, and she performs in local theatre productions.
