Dr David Cox BDSc(QLD) Clinical Assoc University of Syd

David Cox
Dr David Cox achieved a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Queensland in 1982. Establishing David Cox Dental seventeen years ago, after working in the UK, Dr David Cox has become a prominent figure within the dental industry. Dr David Cox tutors in Sedation Dentistry and the utilisation of Nitrous Gas, as well as being the past Secretary of the Implant Society.

He is a member of the European Society of Laser Application and the Co-ordinator of Cosmetic Reconstruction within the practice. David lectures both nationally and internationally on lasers in dentistry.

Dr Jon Stephens BDSc (QLD)

Jon Stephens (Cox)
Jon graduated from University of Queensland in 1982 – in the same class as David Cox, He is especially interested in ‘gentle dentistry’ and a range of cosmetic solutions for patients who want to improve the appearance of their teeth. He has completed the University of Queensland ‘laser in dentistry’ course and many other continuing education courses.

Dr Justin Darby BDSc(Hons)Qld MDSc(Perio)Qld, is our visiting specialist Periodontist. Justin grew up in Brisbane and attended the University of Queensland Dental School graduating in 1999 with honours. He joined our practice in September 2004 after working around Australia as a Squadron Leader Dental Officer with the Royal Australian Air Force. In 2007 Justin graduated the three year post graduate Masters of Periodontics at the University of Queensland, specialising in gum disease and dental implant placement. As part of his post graduate masters program he researched peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis. He currently working as a Periodontist in private practice in Brisbane and Sydney, and has been involved in teaching undergraduate Dental Students, Dental Therapists and Dental Hygienists at both the University of Queensland and University of Sydney.

Dr Châu Leduc BDSc (Qld)

Dr Châu Le Duc is a vibrant, caring dentist who takes special pride in the quality of her work. Her gentle touch and calming disposition can help ease your dental experience.
After graduating from the University of Queensland School of Dentistry in 1994, Châu worked in a variety of public and private practices around South East Queensland. She then joined David Cox Dental in 1998 for two years before heading overseas.
The lure of gaining invaluable experience abroad led Châu to work in London clinics for five years. She has also travelled to the United States to pursue studies in Advanced Functional Aesthetics and Neuromuscular Dentistry, resulting in special interests in Cosmetic dentistry. This was further enhanced by the completion of her Laser Training Course through the University of Queensland.
Since returning home to Brisbane, Châu has taken a permanent place in David Cox Dental, putting her wide experience into practice and enjoying all aspects of dental care.

Dr Brigid Kraus BDSc (QLD)

Dr Brigid Kraus attained a Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours from the University of Queensland in 1983. Brigid is a part of the ASOMAT and has a Fellowship in Nutritional and Environment Medicine.

Joining the David Cox Dental team in 1990, Dr Brigid Kraus provides complete comprehensive dental care to her patients.

Dr Ian Young MBBS (Adel), BDSc(QLD), MSc(Lon), FFDRCS(Ire)

Dr Ian Young attained a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University Of Queensland in 1982. He then furthered his knowledge with a Fellowship of the Faculty of Dentistry along with a Bachelor of both Medicine and Oral Surgery.

He is a Maxillofacial Surgeon, performing our complex surgical procedures, including Dental Implants and Wisdom Teeth Removal.

Dr Douglas Stewart BDSc (Syd) DPGD, RCS, FRSH , MA Anaes (GB & I)

Dr Douglas Stewart heads our conscious Pain Control and Sedation Unit for more complex procedures or simply for a nervous patient. He provides the latest techniques in sedation – that is being “asleep” while a procedure is being carried out.

Dr Stewart is Director of the Department of Oral Diagnostic Sciences and Staff Specialist, head of the Sedation Unit at Westmead Hospital. As a worldwide expert, you can be assured of a safe and pleasant experience.

Dr Paul Hickey BDSc (QLD)

Dr Paul Hickey attained a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Queensland in 1982. Paul is a general dentist with extensive experience in orthodontics.

He recognises the need to combine orthodontics with general and cosmetic dental procedures.

Dr Carolyn Henderson (Endodontist)

Dr Carolyn Henderson graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Queensland in 1983.
She attained a Master of Dental Science in the field of Endodontics in 1992 and worked for eight years in specialist private practice in Brisbane until starting a family. She has since worked for Queensland Health as the Senior Specialist (Endodontics) and joined David Cox Dental in 2008.
Through her work with Queensland Health she has gained a special interest in endodontic management of traumatic dental injuries, pain diagnosis, and team management of complex dental conditions.
She is also involved in the supervision of Postgraduate Endodontic students at the University of Queensland.

Dr Billy Choi BDSc (QLD)

Billy was born in Seoul, Korea and his family moved to Australia in 1991, and since, has always lived locally attending Brisbane Boys’ College and graduating UQ School of Dentistry in 2003.
Upon graduation Billy gained valuable experience from various private practices in Caboolture and Brisbane until taking a permanent position here at David Cox Dental. Billy recognises the importance of continuing education and has been attending numerous courses to integrate and update knowledge and skills.
Billy practises high standard dentistry at all times, takes pride in the quality of treatment he provides and feels confident in all aspects of general dentistry. Billy is currently completing laser accreditation and is keen to expand his training in placement and restoration of implants. He is a member of Australian Dental Association,Aust Society of Implant Dentistry and the Australia Association of Laser Dentistry.
Billy currently enjoys working out at the gym and spending time with family and friends. He also has interests in rugby, soccer, poker, snowboarding and wakeboarding.

Kelly Bird BAPP Hsc (Oral Health)

Kelly has over 12 years experience in the dental industry. Kelly began her career as a dental nurse on the Sunhine Coast and due to her aptitude and dedication was encouraged to study further.
While undertaking studies between the University of Adelalaide and the Torrens Valley Campus Kelly graduated with a Diploma of Dental Hygiene in 2004. Her role in the practice as a dental hygienist is to complement the general dentists / specialist dentists and monitor the health of the teeth, tooth cleaning and prevention of gum disease.
In keeping with our continuing education philosophy at David Cox Dental, Kelly is now one of the first hygienists in Australia to have completed laser training and accreditation. This allows her to complete the tasks of laser toothwhitening (Smart Bleach) and fissure sealants.
Kelly is very passionate about her role as a Dental Hygienist and volunteers her time in developing countries and is looking forward to many more opportunities to volunteer in under-serviced communities throughout Australia.

Vesa Leinonen (Technician/Prosthetist)

Vesa has been working as a technician for over 28 years. He is the first registered BPS (Biofunctional Prosthetic system) prosthetist in Queensland. Vesa specializes in a combination of areas such as intergrating implant dentures, flexible partials, crown and bridge ceramics and chrome castings. He contributes to the dental team extensively in the making of highly advanced both fixed and removable appliances.
