Dentist Profiles
Dr Raj Pather (Practice Principal)
Dr Pather was born in South Africa and migrated to Australia with his parents in 1978. His father is a Medical Practitioner and has worked in Illawarra for the past 30 years.
Attending the University of Sydney, Dr Pather earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1985. He started working in Illawarra immediately after graduating and acquired the Dapto practice in 1987 as the Practice Principal dentist.
Dr Pather has completed aid work with Equal Health in India and Culcutta. He was conferred Fellow of International Academy of Dentists in 2006. Dr Pather was also the Secretary of the South Coast Division of the Australian Dental Association from 1990 to 1992 and then promoted to President from 1992 to 1994. He is still a current member. Dr Pather is also a member of the International Team of Implantology and a member of the Australian Society of Dental Implants.
Dr Pather has a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry and implant surgery. He is married with 2 children and enjoys motor racing and travelling to different parts of the world with his family.
Dr Kayhan Alavian
Dr Alavian was born in 1976 in Tehran, Iran. His family migrated to Vancouver, Canada in 1988 after travelling extensively in Turkey, Syria, Lebanon and Switzerland. In Vancouver, Dr Alavian attended the University of British Columbia, where he earned his Bachelor of Genetics and Cellular Biology in 1998. This was followed by a Masters in Dental Science in 2000. Dr Alavian then moved to Australia and completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Sydney in 2005.
Keyhan has been living in the Illawarra area and working at Dapto Cosmetic and Family Dental Surgery since 2006. He feels privileged to live in ‘one of the most beautiful places on earth’ and enjoys working with his great passion, dentistry.
Keyhan loves football (soccer) and is currently a member of the University of Wollongong Amateur Football club. When he is not playing soccer, he tries to get the most out of the outdoors, whether it’s cycling, body surfing, or just lazing on the beach. His other hobbies include Latin American and Ballroom dancing.
Dr Caroline Piekarz
Growing up in Wollongong, Dr Caroline Piekarz completed a Bachelor of Medical Science at the University of Wollongong in 2001. She then went on to complete a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Adelaide in 2006. The two degrees have shaped her approach to dentistry, providing a deep clinical understanding of dentistry and its effects on your oral and general health.
Dr Piekarz has a special interest in aesthetic restorations, restoring full functionality to your teeth with natural, beautiful looking results that are very difficult to distinguish from natural teeth. As a part of her commitment to provide the highest level of patient care, Dr Piekarz continually embarks on further education, regularly attending dental conferences and courses across Australia. She has recently completed the primary examinations at the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons.
After seven years away studying and working, Dr Piekarz is very happy to be back in Wollongong with her husband, close to their families. She enjoys cooking, jogging and camping.
