Dentist Profile
Dr Joseph Badr
Dr Joseph Badr is both the founder of d-spa and the dental spa concept in Australia, graduating from Melbourne University in 1996. After which he spent five years gaining clinical dental experience, chairing the ADA recent graduates committee and doing continuing professional education all the whilst researching the delivery of dental care both here and abroad.
During a trip to Europe in 2000 where he explored the latest dental technology and European dentistry, Joseph decided he wanted to provide Melbournians with the opportunity to demystify the dental experience. As the Principal dentist and Managing Director of d-spa he spent much time doing just this!
The original d-spa clinic opened in South Yarra in June 2001. Its success resulted in a second clinic opening in April 2003 at the exclusive Paris end of Collins st, followed shortly by a third, at 538 Collins, in September 2006. D-spa employs six dentist and six hygienist and 20 support staff.
When not practicing dentistry Dr Badr enjoys spending time with his family on his beach farm gardening, bike riding and playing tennis.
Dr Priya Lal
Dr Priya Lal is a University of Adelaide graduate. She is a Member of the Australian Dental Association and strives to provide quality general and cosmetic dentistry in a comfortable and calm setting. Her outstanding strengths are care and communication – towards clients and her team. Children and clients who find dental care stressful love seeing her.
Priya has an interest in continuing professional education and attends various postgraduate training courses and seminars spanning whitening, cosmetic dentistry and rotary endodontics in order to keep at the forefront of developments in dentistry. She has a particular passion for preventive dentistry and aims to deliver care that is both minimalist yet complete. This is embodied by her volunteering on dental aid trips to Alice Springs and Cairns.
Her interests apart from dentistry include jazz music and playing both the saxophone and piano.
Dr Matthew Burke
Dr Matthew Burke is a general and cosmetic dentist, offering services in all aspects of dental care. After graduating in 2005 from the University of Adelaide and 2 years working in private practice in Adelaide, Matthew joined our practice at the beginning of 2008. He is a current member of the Australian Dental Association and the Australian Society of Endodontology.
Dr Burke offers a comprehensive range of general and cosmetic services, including Invisalign treatment. This is just one of the ways that we can help you to acheive that smile you have always wanted. Dr Burke prides himself on being up to date with the latest concepts and technologies, ensuring you receive the best quality dental care possible.
Outside of dentistry, Dr Burke is a keen AFL fan and has an interest in music, golf and skiing.
