10 Years Younger in 10 Days – Episode 7
Patient: Tracey
Dentist: Dr Fadi Yassmin
Tracey’s main concern was her discoloured brown decayed teeth, in particular a white fleck on her front tooth. Often referred to as ‘Toothy’, Tracey wants to transform her smile to a younger more confident new look.
Treatment Provided
Photos and Radiographic records
Photos and radiographic records were taken to allow accurate assessment of the existing dentition (development and arrangement of teeth in her mouth) and to give Tracey a visual view of the treatment needed.
Preventative care (Dental prophylaxis)
Deep scaling and polishing to remove the buildup of heavy plaque (also known as calculus and tartar) and staining on Tracey’s teeth, helping prevent cavities and gum disease.
Oral hygiene routine
Cariscreen and caries free rinse program. Custom trays of GC tooth mousse were created for home use, which will help prevent tooth decay (that can lead to cavities, pain, tooth loss and infection) and minimise intrinsic staining (white specs on teeth).
White fillings
To rejuvenate her teeth, broken amalgam fillings were replaced with white fillings for a more natural, comfortable smile. Made from premise(composite) these new fillings are also free from any trace of mercury.
Aesthetic Recontouring
Reshaping the teeth by adding white filling material and gently discing teeth.
Teeth whitening
BriteSmile whitening system was used to whiten Tracey’s teeth. Custom trays were also made to give Tracey a whitening maintenance program to take home to help sustain her whiter smile.
RESULTS – A healthy, brighter and more even looking smile.
10 Years Younger in 10 Days – Episode 7
Patient: Craig
Dentist: Dr David Carr
Craig had lost his front tooth at the age of 6 due to a knock to his mouth with a cricket ball. His mother could not afford to have his tooth replaced with a fixed bridge and hence he has always had a partial denture which he has never liked. Gum disease was present, but minimal tooth decay.
Treatment Provided
Digital Panoramic Radiograph
On initial consultation a Digital Panoramic X-ray was taken. This enables dentists and their patients to get a complete, detailed picture of what treatment is required.
Bridge
A fixed 3 unit Zirconia bridge was fabricated to replace his missing front tooth.
Crown
In order to give Craig a more balanced cosmetic appearance a Zirconia crown was also fabricated on the remaining front tooth.
Gum lift
Performed in this anterior region to achieve a more balanced gum level.
Preventative care (Dental prophylaxis)
Deep scaling and polishing to remove the buildup of heavy plaque (also known as calculus and tartar) and staining on Craig’s teeth, helping prevent cavities and gum disease.
Teeth Whitening
To give Craig a white smile, all other remaining teeth in the lower arch and upper arch were whitened with ZOOM whitening using ‘Power start Swabs’ (which improve the whitening effect and reduce sensitivity).
RESULTS – A more confident newly restored smile.
