Broken Tooth Restoration
Patient: Robyn

Robyn 44, came to Dr Yassmin highly embarrassed about her plate and discoloured upper teeth. She had individual teeth with varying colours due to the nature of several different treatments. Robyn desperately wanted to get rid of the partial plate which had caused her problems for over 10 years and she desired a whiter, more glamorous smile.
Treatment Provided
Photos and Radiographic records
Photos and radiographic records were taken to allow accurate assessment of the existing dentition (development and arrangement of teeth in her mouth) and to give Robyn a visual view of the treatment needed.
Preventative care (Dental prophylaxis)
Deep scaling and polishing to remove the buildup of heavy plaque (also known as calculus and tartar) and staining on Robyn’s teeth, helping prevent cavities, further tooth loss and gum disease.
Oral hygiene routine
Cariscreen and caries free rinse program. Custom trays of GC tooth mousse were created for home use, which will help prevent tooth decay (that can lead to cavities, pain, tooth loss and infection) and minimise intrinsic staining (white specs on teeth).
Crown and bridge work
Robyn was given multiple 10 new crowns and had a 5 unit bridge inserted. The material used has a zirconia framework which greatly increases the strength whilst also providing optimum aesthetics. The dental bridge was used to replace missing teeth and was fixed into Robyn’s mouth via adjoining crowns. Crowns were used to cover and protect Robyn’s worn or broken down individual teeth. A custom shade is taken of the teeth to allow the crowns and bridges to be matched creating a natural looking smile.
White fillings
Robyn had white fillings inserted, allowing her teeth to be filled and rebuilt utilising resin. Alternatively resin/porcelain may have been used, both are highly aesthetic materials and neither contains a mercury alloy.
Teeth whitening
BriteSmile whitening of Robyn’s teeth to perfectly match the custom crown and bridge work performed. Custom trays were also made to give Robyn a take home whitening maintenance program to help sustain her glamorously whiter smile.

Michael presented with missing teeth, gross decay, severe periodontitis (gum disease), crowding, and discoloured teeth. Michael’s main concern of his smile was his “decayed teeth”.
Treatment Provided
Digital Panoramic Radiograph
On initial consultation a Digital Panoramic X-ray was taken. This enables dentists and their patients to get a complete, detailed picture of what treatment is required.
Removal of all decay
Decay and caries present in his anterior teeth in both upper and lower arches were removed.
Full tooth restoration
Adhesive restoration/composite resin.
Gum lift
Gum lift to remove excess gum tissue in upper and lower arches, in order to relieve crowding in the mouth. Gum lift was performed utilising a microwave tip which gently dissects the infected tissue cleanly without the need for any sutures as it sterilises as it cuts through the tissue. The teeth were quite mobile because of the infection in the gum tissue resulting in softening of the bone which supports the teeth, so Dr Carr’s team could actually move the teeth quite rapidly in 10 days.
“Elastodontics”
“Elastodontics” is a technique developed by Dr Carr over the last 25 years using “invisible” elastic threads bonded directly to the teeth which apply a physiological force in a prescribed direction resulting in very rapid movement of the mobile teeth as seen in this case.
At the end of the elastic therapy the teeth are stabilized with a bonded fine wire
Teeth reshaping
Odontoplasty – cosmetic reshaping of his teeth was used to achieve a balanced look.
